Transgender pets.

And no, I’m no talking about otherkin or trans people who are submissives in BDSM, I’m talking about pet owners who think their cat or dog is trans for some reason and INSIST on you calling the animal by either the opposite-sex pronoun or a completely weird gender-neutral pronoun they made up.

What gets me about this is that cats and dogs DO NOT HAVE A SELF-CONCEPT. I used to have several cats who would look at themselves in a mirror, attack their reflection, and look completely mystified why the “other” cat was attacking them at the same time as they attacked the mirror. If cats and dogs can’t recognize themselves in a mirror, it’s highly unlikely they have a concept of gender/sex identity.

Also, I’ve heard such pet owners (one of whom was a friend of mine, although a much more radical trans man than I am) refer to spaying/neutering their animals (which is common sense anyway) as “gender confirmation surgery”. URGH.
