So far, Lauren Faust said she would hold off the project till she had met with the right crew for the job.
For those of you who don’t know, Lauren Faust (and Craig McCrackin for that matter) throughout their history as animators/producers/storyboard artists have always worked alongside a close knit group of skilled people with whom they were at least acquainted with prior to meeting in any work related capacity. It’s just her thing to seek out those she can effectively work with.
So yeah…it’s a waiting game.
I myself am totally stoked for that show to be made. When I first heard, I was pretty damn ready to strap on some Milky Way roller skates and rocket my 6 foot tall ass all over town, but I’ll have to stow that thought longer still.
Now onto the diversity issue:
No, Lauren Faust would NOT make them All White. She has an imaginative and open heart (I guess…I don’t know anything more about her than what she’s directly proclaimed or expressed through her few independent works.)
For the people that say that the humanizations would be all white, they say it because they have no other way to justify it.
In my last submit, I confirmed along with you all that the The racial make-up of the fan humanizations (All White or Otherwise) is based in Bias/Preference.
Aesthetic Biases are not artifacts of reason, but rather sub conscience. Hence they cannot be sensibly expressed in a detailed manner. They’re too simple. That’s why the excuses for them are usually bad when they aren’t outright lies. There’s no good reason and no good argument for their leanings, but they still have to answer for the behavior it inspires. (answer to this increasingly civil society).
Faust herself has aesthetic biases, being human and all. The differing factor is that she has a vision and goals that go beyond the gratification of a meta-cultural comforts. She sees the diverse world, and seeks to reach out to the audiences within it.
A lot of fan artists don’t have vision that reaches beyond their personal scope, so they don’t venture too far.
While there are intrepid fan artists/general artists who do.
Hello, I was also at Ever Free Northwest over the weekend. While I was going to stay silent on my experience, once I ran into a post by mjolkk on Reddit, I was suprised by the reluctance on the part of some bronies to believe her stories of the con. I’m writing - anonymously, since I don’t want to…
>spends good majority of Friday posing for photos with cosplay group
