From 1960 to 2006, there were 68 films featuring an “evil albino” character. This is excluding television as well as more current films. Over and over again, characters with albinism are portrayed negatively and without the repercussions of the condition, such as light sensitivity and impaired vision. Friendship is Magic has been so good at breaking down stereotypes that I had initially hoped when I saw the albino dragon that he or she would come to the forefront and stop the other dragons from bullying Spike. As a person with albinism, I felt genuinely disappointed when he/she did not.
